We are Stephen & Grace Chambers. Our children are Joel, Hannah, Leah & Joshua.
We were both saved as children and our first in-depth encounter with CEF was in our late teens at a New Year Camp. We then attended the Summer Outreach Training Course to prepare for summer ministry.
For 8 years we worked, by God’s help, as volunteers with CEF in our local area doing 5-Day Clubs, Tract Distribution, GNC ministry, Senior Youth Challenge, Junior GNC Camp and Teen Camp. In 2004 we both believed that the Lord was calling us into full-time ministry. We completed the Children’s Ministry Leadership Course (CMLC) and started work as Local Workers in the N.E. Ulster area. At the time we were assured by this verse from Psalm 32:8, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.”
It continues to be our trust, that the Lord will equip us for whatever task we face. That equipping has been greatly helped during times at the Irish Baptist College and the Cornhill Training Course, Belfast. We are thankful to God for these opportunities and how they have shaped us and prepared us for service.
Our vision has been expanded beyond our local area as we have worked in Europe through the Multimedia Advisory Group, a ‘Momentum’ team to Sweden, and helped at an Instructor of Teachers course for Western Europe.
The invitation to serve in Western Europe came unexpectedly and is very humbling. However inadequate we feel, we believe it is the right timing and the right role for the gifts God has graciously given us.
We do realise however that we have much to learn, but firmly believe the Lord will further equip us and teach us in the days ahead to help, support and encourage country/team leaders and workers in Western Europe.
These gospel words from Philippians 3:12 have been a help to us and no doubt will be an encouragement in days to come, “but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own.”
