With a car full of play-dough, puppets, cereal boxes, wooden blocks, jigsaws, socks and various other random items, I headed off to Dublin for the day! I was very excited about the opportunity to teach the Preschool Teachers’ Course in Chapelizod, Dublin for four Saturdays this Spring.

There were 22 enthusiastic teachers taking the course and they represented 13 different church congregations – churches in Dublin, Cavan, Kildare and Monaghan. We covered topics such as – Understanding the Preschool Child, Bible Truths for Preschoolers, and Prayer and the Preschool Child.

It was encouraging to see the teachers grasping how much these ‘little ones’ can learn, to hear them praying that God would use them to bring the message of salvation to this age-group, and also to see them being inspired to think of creative ideas for teaching them. One teacher went home and got her husband involved in making a boat for the story of Jonah that she was telling. She said he was delighted that we all admired his handiwork. Then she said, “Little does he know that’s only his first project of many!”

Here are some of the comments from teachers at the end of the course: “The training course was such a great help that I have already shared some of my learning with fellow teachers in our church in Kildare…” “I have certainly learnt so much and want to put more effort into Sunday School especially with creative ideas.” “Thanks so much for that wonderful learning experience, it was soooo enjoyable, I learned so much.”

Please pray for these teachers as they teach children and serve the Lord in their churches and communities. Pray that they will be encouraged and enabled to bring the Good News of Jesus to the Preschoolers, and that these ‘little ones’ would trust the Saviour for themselves.
