One of the most fruitful ministries of CEF of Ireland over the years has been camp ministry. The first camp was held in 1971.

Before long, a new venue had to be found for the various camps, retreats and training courses that had started up. One option was a B&B in Kilkeel, called ‘Seaview’. It was a large property, owned by a Mr and Mrs Harris. When the Harris’ put it up for sale, CEF of Ireland decided to buy it and to establish it as a camp centre.

Mr and Mrs Harris were keen for CEF to have the centre, and they sold it for £25,000 (much below its market value).

It seemed an unthinkable amount of money to raise, but God was gracious, and the target was not only reached, but surpassed. By the opening of Seaview Camp Centre, £32,000 had been received!

Seaview continues to be a blessing to thousands across Ireland and further afield. It is used for camps, weekends, training events, conferences and more! More than 1,000 children and young people use the centre each year.

Seaview is mostly used for CEF ministry, but other ministries and churches often make use of the centre for events and weekends.

Whether it’s the excellent accommodation, the fully equipped sports hall, the quality catering, or just the stunning views of the Mourne mountains, there are many reasons to come to Seaview!

The extensive use of Seaview over the years has led to considerable wear and tear. Add to this the age of the original building, and it becomes clear that the work required is major.

After numerous consultations, it has been decided that the best course of action for the future of Seaview is to rebuild.

The new centre will be able to accommodate more people, have more facilities, cater for more training courses and benefit both CEF in Ireland and across Europe.

We are all too aware of the enormity of this project. Initial estimates expect that it will cost somewhere in the region of £1.8—2 million.

This is, undoubtedly, a huge step of faith, but when we look at God’s faithfulness in the past, we know that we can trust Him for the future. He has provided for us before, and we know that He can do it again.

We want to redevelop Seaview not so that we can have a beautiful, new centre, but so that thousands more children and young people can hear about Jesus, and put their trust in Him.

Will you help us?
